ADVANTAGES OE BEING AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE FMCEC

As part of a small manufacturer of construction equipment. in Techno Drill's case drilling rigs, I find that the pressure to squeeze the proverbial quart into the pint pot is a daily experience. How are we doing with our sales? Are we targeting the most effective countries for our export? Should we attend this exhibition or conference? How do I go about finding a contact in this new territory? Does my equipment meet the latest technical requirements? How do my paperwork and technical handbooks measure up to current legislation?

These are a few of the plethora of questions we all ask ourselves frequently in the small companies. I am sure the same questions niggle at the big boys too!

I have found some considerable comfort and assistance for a good many of these daily challenges since joining and getting involved with the FMCEC. True, the questions are still there, and they still perplex and irritate, but I find that I am able to draw on the experience and the wisdom of other members who have been there and done that. Hopefully, the information that they pass on can help me to avoid some of the expensive and time consuming pitfalls that they have already experienced. Apart from that, I may sometime even be able to help other members with my own experience!

With decisions regarding new territories and shows, it is also a great comfort to he able to discuss ones thoughts with other manufacturers. The opportunity to bounce ideas off others who know what our objectives are is a real asset. Apart from that, the assistance received directly from the FMCEC for shows and technical briefings is invaluable.

Market trends statistics give us a good feel for the way things are going for us in comparison with others in the same market. It was a good decision to join the FMCEC.

The real benefits come from getting involved though. I can thoroughly recommend it.
