Customs on the Internet

Customs have re-designed and relaunched their website. A great deal of practical information is now much more easily accessible, and the various areas have links to each other.

Browsers should start off at www.hmce.gov.uk where they will then see
the following menu:

  • Address and contact details of VAT advice and registration centres
  • Consultation documents
  • Joint VAT consultative committee papers
  • Public notices on Customs & Excise, VAT and Intrastat
  • Rates of exchange information
  • Selection of forms for off-line completion

Customs are also examining the possibility of completing VAT returns
electronically as an alternative to completing the current paper based return.

Find-a-Linguist

The Institute of Linguists has recently launched an Internet site providing a free shortlisting service for companies who have a requirement for interpreters, translators or language consultants. The listing `Find-a-Linguist', has details of over 500 members of the Institute. ww.iol.org.uk/linguist/finda.htm
