Export
Marketing Group
The first
Bulletin of 2000 will be issued shortly so current matters of
export interest have been included there. If your company has
an export interest but has not joined the Group then you are missing
out. This week’s meeting papers include notes on the talk from
the International Plant Manager for Balfour Beatty on how to sell
to contractors. The next meeting’s talks are on keeping up to
date with financial deals and insurance offers with speakers from
the ECGD and AON.
Exhibiting
in the 21st Century
One of the
worst things about planning your exhibition stand is the endless
form filling. Booking the space is easy but what happens next?
Who do you send it to, how many copies, when is the deadline,
do I have to pay for it now and in what currency? These are just
a few of the problems you face when planning your exhibition stand.
The FMCEC
have joined with EMC2 who are at the leading edge of electronic
innovation technology aimed at exhibition management. EMC2 have
come up with an on-line electronic exhibitor manual and FMCEC
will be the first association to offer it to their members to
assist them in the planning of Intermat 2000.
All you need
to solve all your planning problems in a one-stop shop
is a connection to the Internet. When you log onto the site for
the first time you simply enter your company details and will
then be given a unique number and password which ensures that
all your information remains 100% confidential. All the order
forms, application forms, registration and DTI documentation,
insurance, travel packages, catalogue entry forms – in fact everything
you need to exhibit - will be found on the site. Simply fill in
the forms on screen and click send – the programme knows where
to send it.
When you order
furniture, services, passes etc you are given a shopping trolley
– just like in Amazon or any other on-line shopping programme.
When you have ordered all that you need, proceed to checkout where
your order is sent and an invoice will be generated. At present
invoices will be paid in the conventional way.
One of the
best features of the manual is that it manages your problems for
you. The manual thinks logically - for example you can’t start
ordering your furniture before you have booked any space, it won’t
let you. It will also send you electronic reminders when deadlines
are approaching – so no more missed catalogue entries or surcharges
for late orders.
Exhibitors
in the FMCEC British Group at Intermat will have the opportunity
to use the electronic exhibitor manual – totally FREE. Don’t worry
if you are not on the Internet yet – you can still do it the hard
way by hand!
