EDITORIAL Now I feel a True European It was at the CECE Congress that I first felt it. Before then I had attended a few CECE Technical Commission meetings but had felt an "outsider" and the meetings were very similar to those held in the UK. It was during the informal meetings at the CECE Congress that I realised there was a European perspective. I felt this particularly during the evening meetings to discuss the European response to the questions raised for the Trans Atlantic Business Dialogue that I realised that all the national representatives were coming from substantially the same position and after some discussion a consensus view was agreed. I am the UK member for the CECE Working Group studying the problems associated with the proposed Physical Agents (Vibration) Directive. At these meeting there is frank discussion but again very little national bias is evident. While the politicians may bluster and shout during their TV appearances I have nothing but the desire to have a common viewpoint and to make the legislation fair and reasonable for both OEMs and their customers.
