The
CEA is committed to working with the network of other trade associations,
agencies and government departments to promote the interests of the
UK construction equipment sector.
Cranes Today - Tim Faithfull was invited to Chair one of the afternoon sessions at the Cranes Today World Class Crane Management Seminar held in May in Amsterdam. The event was attended by crane manufacturers, hirers and users from across the globe. ABMEC - The Association of British Mining Equipment Companies will be supporting the CEA’s bid for SESA funding for M&T Expo in Brazil. This arose from a successful meeting between Joanna Oliver, the CEA’s Exhibitions Manager, and Phil Deakin, the Director-General of ABMEC. September in Rome - Comamoter, our Italian counterpart association, will host this year’s CECE Congress in Rome (25-28 September). The draft programme includes a session from CEA member David Phillips (Off-highway Research) and experts on European Distribution Contracts, European Infrastructure Projects, the Consumer Guarantees Directive and EU Funding Opportunities. There will also be a briefing on Exhaust Emission Regulations from senior legislators. The Italian Minister of Construction is another invitee. The confirmed programme will be mailed to CEA OEM members. Spending Selectively - is the CEA supported submission to HM Treasury prepared by the Engineering Employers Federation. The paper calls for specific measures to assist the UK manufacturing environment. These include delivery on transport spending promises and the provision of competitive support for exporters. The EEF write, "Looking longer term, the key issue is whether manufacturing repeats the strong output and productivity growth of the 1980s or the stagnation of the last decade".
Trade Partners UK and the Trade Association Forum - organised a successful Annual Conference for Trade Associations on 29 May 2002 entitled "Working in Partnership". The event took place at the CBI Conference Centre in London. Rob Oliver gave a presentation on the CEA’s Primed for Export project at the TP UK/TAF Conference.
Construction Industry Forum - Pam Hyde has represented the CEA at meetings where there have been discussions on how trade associations in the sector can work together to develop exports. The UK Steel Association - has merged with the Engineering Employers Federation (EEF). UK Steel retains its own identity within the EEF, while at the same time its members have access to the wide range of services provided by the EEF.
