The CEA is delighted to announce that, for the first time, it will sponsor a British Group at Condex 2003 and the AED Annual Convention, with up to £2,300 of SESA (Support for Exhibitions and Seminars Abroad) support. AED/Condex couples a trade show with an industry convention and networking events to provide a unique opportunity for your company to get the edge over your competitors in the American market. AED/Condex is much more than just a trade show - it remains the only construction industry event targeted at putting distributors in touch with manufacturers and is designed expressly to facilitate one-on-one meetings with the leading manufacturers and distributors in the construction equipment industry. In addition to making your most important contacts of the New Year, AED/Condex provides you with quality information, networking opportunities and educational programmes. AED is a membership association of 1,200 independent distributors, manufacturers, and other organisations involved in the distribution of construction equipment and related products and services in North America and throughout the world. Make Condex a Centre of British Exporting Excellence! SESA supported stands are available to British exhibitors either individually, for independent exhibitors or, for a more cost effective package, as part of a combined Centre of British Exporting Excellence stand. Up to £2,300 in SESA grant is available to qualifying British companies. The Centre of British Exporting Excellence provides a showcase of the best of British construction equipment, enabling British exhibitors to take just 3 or 4 sqm of space as part of a larger group stand. For further information contact the CEA Exhibitions Team IMMEDIATELY.
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO? SESA Grant Supported Exhibitions April 2003 - March 2004 As many readers will already know, the CEA sponsors British Groups at a number of SESA exhibitions, obtaining grants of up to £2,300 per exhibitor. In order to secure SESA support the CEA participates in an annual bidding round - competing for funding with trade associations from other industries. As only about half the bids are successful, it is important to bid for the right exhibitions. To help us formulate our exhibitions strategy for the bidding period - April 2003 / March 2004 - we would value your input. The countries selected by Trade Partners and the DTI as being high priority target markets for the construction industry are listed below. If you would like the CEA to bid for SESA funding for exhibitions in any of these countries, please contact the CEA Exhibitions Team IMMEDIATELY:
SESA funding has already been awarded for Intermat (France) in May 2003 and for Bauma (Germany) in April 2004.
The CEA is once again the sponsor of the SESA British Group at Intermat, which is billed as the International Exhibition of Equipment and Techniques for the Civil Engineering and Construction Industries. The CEA is holding prime stand locations in the British Pavilion at the front of Hall 6 - but they are going fast. By booking your stand space on the British Pavilion you can benefit from substantially reduced participation costs. The organisers expect there to be over 1,500 exhibitors (10 international pavilions are planned), over 210,000 visitors - of which 50% will be international, 300,000 sqm of exhibition space and an improved Demonstration Zone highlighting earthmoving, lifting and drilling equipment. British Group stands are available as co-located, satellite and island sites using the CEA shell scheme or using the exhibitor’s own contractor. Only companies exhibiting in the British Pavilion in Hall 6 should book space through the CEA. All other companies must book their space directly with the Intermat organisers - even if you would like the CEA to arrange your stand construction. The British Group Information Centre will be located in the British Pavilion. The SESA / Trade Partners rules have changed to allow SESA group sizes to be capped. The CEA has been notified by Trade Partners that the maximum group size for Intermat is only 60 companies. Although the CEA is lobbying for the cap to be increased there is no guarantee. As British Group sizes are increasing annually it is possible that you may lose out if you do not apply for your grant NOW. For a SESA application form please contact Sharna via sharna@admin.co.uk. Note - it is possible to withdraw your application if you decide not to exhibit at Intermat.
SESA grant aid was awarded to 56 British companies exhibiting at the recent Conexpo-Con/Agg and IFPE exhibitions (up from 35 in 1999). The CEA ran a British Group Information Centre, enabling a further 11 British companies to display literature and graphics. The CEA’s Business Tracker CD-ROM and a British Company Information brochure were distributed to visitors to the stand.
There were 2,112
exhibitors at Conexpo-Con/Agg, up from 1,882 in 1999, and 343 at IFPE.
Exhibitors were predominantly from the USA although national pavilions
were present from the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, China and South
Korea. The official visitor figures were 111,439, of which 14.4% were from overseas. Alan Woods from the CEA’s sponsoring department at the DTI attended the exhibition and visited most of the British exhibitors. There is no doubt that Conexpo-Con/Agg is a major exhibition in the construction equipment calendar and that it is an essential show for British companies who are serious about exporting to the USA.
