JOHN
BINNS & SON (SPRINGS) LTD
Founded
in 1895, John Binns initially specialised in the supply of springs to
the textile industry. However, today the company supplies into a wide
range of industries with particular emphasis on construction plant and
equipment. The philosophy at John Binns is based on a total commitment
to customer satisfaction, through prompt and efficient service and a
dedication to provide the highest attainable quality. With increasing
competitive pressures, manufacturers cannot afford the spiralling
costs of unreliable supply and quality. Springs may only make up a
small percentage of component costs but any supply chain is only as
strong as its weakest link.
John
Binns builds on the strength of its quality ethos by looking to offer
its customers added value wherever possible. This may take the form of
holding stock levels to ensure immediate supply even at peak times or
packaging parts for customers’ after market requirements. More
recently, John Binns have diversified into the "wireforms"
market, producing two and three dimensional wire shapes for a variety
of applications. In the construction equipment market these have
included levers and guards.
With continual
investment in new technology and a growing customer base, John Binns
& Son (Springs) Ltd is looking forward to the next 105 years of
manufacturing.

RDS
TECHNOLOGY LTD
leading
hydraulic weighing technology into the 21st Century
Loadmaster 9000 Approved
Weighing System Launched
RDS have announced the launch
of their new Loadmaster 9000 approved weighing system - the only
hydraulic on-board weighing system that has attained both OIML R51 and
R76 approval. The RDS Loadmaster 9000 is designed for Weights and
Measures approved operation, either for automatic weighing (AWI) or
non-automatic weighing (NAWI). It is designed for use on material
handling machines including wheeled loaders, forklift trucks and
telescopic handlers and is approved for operation in all EEC
countries, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Estonia, New Zealand, Hungary,
Israel, Poland, Slovakia, Tunisia, and, with NSC approval, in
Australia. The RDS Loadmaster 9000 calculates the weight from the
measurement of hydraulic pressure in the lift system. Sophisticated
software coupled with sensing technology allows accurate measurement
to OIML standards for both dynamic and/or static weighing. The system
can easily be switched between approved and non-approved weighing
functions.
The RDS Loadmaster 9000
also comes with the following features:
-
500 manual customer
entries
-
200 product entries
-
ICP and PCMCIA memory
card compatibility
-
Software in seven
languages
Loadmaster 8000 On-Board
Weighing System - New Enhanced Features
Along with updated database
facility and a host of other enhancements, RDS Technology Ltd have
announced that their Loadmaster 8000 on-board weighing system now
comes with an additional batch weighing facility as standard and also
offers telemetry as an option. The batch weighing facility provides
the opportunity to load pre-programmed recipes, or to log random
blending during operation. The upload of this information is done via
a PCMCIA data card. The new features to the RDS Loadmaster 8000 will
be particularly useful for the recycling, incineration and feed
industries. To suit the requirements of customers who need remote
recording and loading instructions for vehicles in such environments
as quarries, landfill sites and mines, the RDS Loadmaster 8000 is now
available with telemetry capability. Radio modem technology means that
the transmission of load data between mobile vehicles and site offices
can now be achieved in real time. Load transactions can be sent to
specific loaders and tasks can be allocated to multiple vehicles. Data
can be sent from the mobile vehicles directly to the control office,
where paperwork and stock control can be prepared and monitored on
site immediately. Customer data can be logged by vehicle, product,
customer name and job transaction numbers. The updated Loadmaster 8000
is easily upgradable to Approved for Trade purposes.

CEA
MEMBERSHIP GROWTH ANTICIPATED
2001 was a good year for
increased CEA membership. Overall companies joined as a result of our
Manufacturing Excellence programme. Despite the usual pressures of
company failures or amalgamations, the CEA is confidently predicting
further membership growth in 2002. The target is to increase
membership by 15%. Existing members can help by recommending
membership to their suppliers or other business contacts.
