CESAR - Plant Registration

The CESAR scheme

Datatag and CESAR Combat Rising Crime with Three Official Solutions
Datatag, the security products provider and the power behind the official UK plant security and registration scheme-CESAR, used the International Rental Exhibition to launch CESAR into the Netherlands. Datatag introduced two new innovative security products to protect small tools and equipment used by the rental sector. Construction and agricultural equipment theft is a huge problem throughout Europe. Official insurance industry research estimates that the cost could be as high as £4.5 billion pa in Europe. CESAR is a proven deterrent against theft as thieves immediately recognise the distinctive triangular registration plate. In the UK for every CESAR registered machine stolen, of which over 30% are recovered, 43 non-registered machines are stolen! Datatag and CESAR now offer a range of cost-effective products that act as a powerful deterrent against theft. CESAR is the most successful and widely used machinery security and registration scheme in the world, with over 56,000 cumulative registrations since the scheme’s inception in 2007.

CESAR is now fitted, as standard, on machines built on production lines in the UK, Germany, and the USA – and is now poised to help reduce equipment theft across Europe with a number of leading manufacturers about to roll-out the scheme into mainland Europe. The physical constraints of smaller pieces of equipment have, in the past, made fitting CESAR difficult, but now a solution is available in ‘compact’ CESAR. Using a robust green triangular registration plate, with a unique registration number, that is securely bolted to the equipment. The second new product that was launched in Amsterdam, aimed at protecting small tools and equipment, combines a number of sophisticated technologies to give each tool a unique ‘fingerprint’ that is impossible for thieves to remove. The sophisticated protection includes an ultra-destruct label with a unique identification number which incorporates ‘stealth UV etching technology’. Even if thieves remove the label the unique Ultra Violet fingerprint will continue to positively identify the tool.
