Non-Compliant Equipment Heads European Agenda
The Trade Policy Commission (TPC) of CECE met with representatives of the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) and BERR during the CECE Congress - another step in the campaign against the supply of non-compliant construction equipment into EU markets. Delegates from throughout Europe heard first hand about UK efforts to ensure equipment placed on the market meets European regulations covering noise, emissions and machinery safety. VCA and BERR have agreed to supply CECE a wish list of information and action needed from manufacturers that will help them and their European counterparts in their market surveillance tasks. The TPC is chaired by Thomas Lyckvall of Swedish wheel loader manufacturers, Ljungby Maskin AB. An upsurge of non-compliant plant breaching European markets
is feared as a possible consequence of the upheavals in global markets replicating similar problems experienced in the late 1990s when the Asian economies took a sudden downturn. To learn more about the CECE/CEA campaign e-mail Rob Oliver on
