Continuation
of Scrappage Scheme Can Help Us
The CEA are supporting the SMMT and EEF call to extend the car
scrappage scheme into 2010. The £300 million initiative is set to end
soon but, as has been well publicised, has stimulated car sales by
offering incentives for the replacement of old vehicles. Germany has
seen a similar positive response to their (more generous) government
scheme. Whilst it is unlikely that the government will extend the
scrappage allowance to cover construction equipment – many suppliers
to our sector also serve the car market and any help they can get is
to be welcomed. |
