Construction Equipment Manufacturing – Why We Matter

The last time the value of our sector was independently measured, it was estimated that Construction Equipment had a value of £8.5 billion to the British economy. Before the global recession hit, we had a terrific record of growth and innovation – with significant inward investment and exports of over 70 per cent of what we manufactured. As business confidence returns and politicians and others talk about the value of re-establishing a “balanced economy” we need to stand up for our sector. We need manufacturer friendly public policies and a commitment to construction and infrastructure investment.

In this pre-election period, why not let your local MP, and would be MPs, know how your business makes a positive impact on the economy. Copies of our HMG endorsed profile of the British construction equipment industry (“Discover one of the UK’s most dynamic sectors”) are still available from the CEA offices to help with your local lobbying. E-mail us on cea@admin.co.uk for copies. Register too for our Building Business Confidence event on 17 March – free of charge to CEA members and their guests.
